Women empowerment is fundamental behind driving a country’s growth and development. Providing women with equal access to training and opportunities, enables them to eventually grow into independent, resilient women, resulting in vital positive developmental outcomes for that country. SSS Foundation has committed to improve livelihoods, enhance access to training and skills, and raise living standards. Through our initiatives, we strive to train people and raise their standards of living across the value chain.

Sui Dhaaga is an initiative by SSS Foundation that aims to uplift the livelihood of underprivileged women. With the intention of empowering women, SSS Foundation in collaboration with Gyan Kunj has initiated this campaign across the Census Town of Bawana near Delhi. Underprivileged women and girls from this area were chosen and subjected to training program related to sewing and stitching at no cost. At present, close to 50 students are trained in morning batches. SSS Foundation is proud to work with Sui Dhaaga of Gyan Kunj in compensation schemes for tutors and guest instructors which secures the future of hundreds of women.

This training has given the penurious women a feeling of self-confidence to take up assignments and employment. They are able to contribute to run their families and look after the education of their children. Sui Dhaaga has been a great success in the community with high demands for enrolment. The training programme comes as a massive leap for them, from being housewives to becoming independent breadwinners. This showcases the true power of ‘Sui Dhaaga’ in addressing indigence and laying the foundation for a refulgent future for the women of Bawana.
